Free Sock Pattern
These socks are designed for adults, you can adjust the length of the leg and foot by reducing or adding to the lengths called for in the pattern. I suggest an extra ball if you plan on adding more than 2" in length to the leg or foot. It is written for fingering weight yarns such as Noro Kureyon Sock or Austermann Step. Material: 100 grams 4 ply (fingering weight) sock yarn set of 4 double points 2.75mm, marker Tension: 30 sts = 4"/10cm using 2.75mm Cast on 60 sts loosely and distribute over 3 needles 20-20-20, mark end of rnd. Work in K1, Pl 1 ribbing for 3". Change to stocking stitch (knit every round) until total length from beginning measures 8". Heel Knit 15 sts, turn work so that now you are purling, P the 15 sts you just K, then onto the same needle P the next 15 sts. Divide the remaining sts onto 2 needles or stitch holder and leave for instep. You have a total of 30 sts for the heel flap. Repeat above two rows until 36-44 rows have been worked. Turn Heel - (Right Side) K17, Slip 1, K1, PSSO, K1, turn work
- Slip 1, P5, P2tog, P1, turn
- Slip 1, K to 1 st before gap, Slip 1, K1, PSSO, K1, turn
- Slip 1, P to 1 st before gap, P2tog, P1, turn
Rep Rows 3 and 4 and all heel sts have been worked. (18 sts) Foot Knit across heel sts, along edge of heel flap, pick up and K 15 sts, K across 30 sts of instep, pick and K 15 sts on other side of heel flap, then K across 9 sts of heel sts. (78 sts) - K to last 3 sts of first needle, K2 tog, K1; K next needle; K1, Slip 1, K1, PSSO, K to end on last needle.

Repeat above 2 rows until there is 60 sts. Work even until foot measures 7-9", from back of heel or until it measures 1" less than finished length of foot. Toe - Needle 1: K to last 3 sts, K2tog, K1; Needle 2: K1, Slip 1, K1, PSSO, K to last 3 sts, K2tog, K1; Needle 3: K1, Slip 1, K1, PSSO, K to end.

Repeat above 2 rounds until 24 sts remain. Knit sts from Needle 1 onto Needle 3 so that there are 12 sts on both remaining needles. Cut yarn leaving a 12" tail. Graph sts together.
